The Richmond County Literacy Council offers help to students of Adult Basic Education or those studying for their GED through one-on-one and small classroom settings. That’s why we strive to help adults continue their education. Not only does the Literacy Council teach people how to read, but through a dedicated group of volunteers & staff, many of Richmond
County’s residents enjoy a better quality of life just by gaining this basic skill. One success story clearly illustrates this. At the age of 20, a mother of two small children found herself facing the possibility of being trapped “in the system” for the rest of her life. She wanted to become self-sufficient, but didn’t know how. Through the help she received at the Literacy Council, she was able to complete her General Education Diploma (GED). She plans to enroll in community college soon. Thanks to the skills she learned, her children also have a better chance at success in education as well. |
